Somehow after an unknown-but-likely-larger-than-240k amount of miles the shocks on the Miata are still good, and now they have upgraded springs to go with them. 400 front, 350 rear. Lowered the front a half inch, the rear roughly 3/4 inch. Underdampened (obviously) but not enough to be the bouncy disaster my Civic was when I did this sort of thing. Also disconnected the rear sway bar. The ride is stiff with minimal body roll and an ever so slight tendency to oversteer. I dig it.

For autocross. The rear sway made the car way too tail-happy. Once I get an upgraded front the handling should be very neutral.

I honestly wouldn’t have guessed that. The more you know!

Nice, what brand of springs and will you be purchasing reinforcement blocks for your eventual front swaybar upgrade?

They’re just springs from Summit Racing. I might do some chassis bracing to go along with it, delrin door bushings, reinforced frame rails, etc. as I can afford it. Miata chassis are pitifully floppy pre-1994
